Ron Farris served as a member of the Mississippi Senate from 1996 to 2004 and is a former aide to then-Congressman Trent Lott in his Washington, D.C. office. As a Senator, Farris served on the Joint Legislative Budget Committee; as Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee for Executive Budgets (Governor, Legislature, Attorney General, State Auditor, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, Insurance Department, State Fire Academy); Chairman of the Joint (Senate & House) Legislative Youth Intervention Study Committee; Vice Chairman, Highways & Transportation Committee; and as member of the Appropriations, Judiciary, Public Health & Welfare, Education, Universities & Colleges, Transportation, Insurance, Juvenile Justice, Elections, and Ports & Marine Resources Committees. He is a frequent panel member and speaker on real estate and economic development for entities such as the Mississippi Development Authority and the International Council of Shopping Centers, which he serves as Southern Division Government Relations Director. He is a part of the team representing Mississippi REALTORS, in addition to other clients.
